Authentic Indian & Latin Food While on a Party Bus in the Ham

Birmingham, Alabama is one of the hottest up and coming foodie cities and every time I dine in at a new restaurant, I know why! No matter if it’s American food or from another country the food is always packed full of flavor and authentically made. So the next time you’re in the Lakeview community in Birmingham, you must make your way to Babalu Tacos & Tapas if you’re in the mood for some incredible Latin-inspired food that’s made with fresh ingredients. In fact, the food made my mouth so happy, that I came back the day after filming to try some more menu items which were just as good. Babalu also offers a soup of the day. It was so yummy that I wanted to lick the pot it was cooked in! Inste

Meal Plan for the Weekend

Thinking about what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner can be draining sometimes and that’s why I decided this week’s show should create your meal plan for the weekend. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day we begin our food journey this morning with brunch at my favorite spot in downtown Birmingham at Yo Mama’s Restaurant. They’re opened for Brunch every 2nd and last Saturday of the month and weekdays from 10:30-2:30 for lunch. The owner is Denise Peterson, I call her mama has some of the best tasting home made meals. Her most popular is her fried chicken and waffles. You can also get her spicy wings to go with your waffles if you prefer or get half spicy & half friend.

Summer of Joy in Orange Beach

Last year I shot a TV pilot for a food competition and got to experience how beautiful the City of Orange Beach really is. So why not vacation in my home state of Alabama right? With so many places to eat and stay, I thought I would take you to some of my favorite spots! So this week, I’m taking you on my summer vacation! Leaving Birmingham heading to Orange beach, you come through the town of Foley, Alabama. You will see signs for a new waterpark, shopping and “Throwed Rolls at Lambert’s Cafe.” Curiosity got the best of me, so I had to stop in and learned this is a very iconic spot where they actually throw the “hot rolls” to you! You can stop in at Lambert’s Cafe before you hit the beach!

BBQ and a Whole Lot More

There’s nothing like some delicious, fall of the bone BBQ from Johnny Ray’s in the Colonnade. Johnny Ray’s was the very first restaurant I ever ate at when I came to Birmingham. I thought it was very good, but the one thing that stuck out in mind was the banana cream pie. Fast forward almost 20 years, the pies taste the same today as they still use the original owners recipe. Now besides, the amazing ribs, pulled pork and chicken, the Johnny Rays Colonnade location has more than smoked meat. The BBQ joint have offerings for the customer that is not in the mood for BBQ. I’m talking about catfish, nachos, chili cheese dogs, burgers, salads and their incredible hand dipped home made onion rings

My Favorite Day of the Year #NationalFriedChickenDay

Today is one of my all time favorite holidays when it comes to food and that is celebrating #NationalFriedChickenDay! There is truly nothing like delicious, crispy, mouthwatering fried chicken. Its a southern staple as well as a top favorite among meat and three and a SoulFood plate. I was excited to be able to spend part of my day eating some juicy, favorable fried chicken from none other than Church’s Chicken. I grew up eating Church’s mainly after church on Sunday’s along with that delicious pepper, honey butter biscuit and strawberry soda. Fast forward 30+ years, Church’s still has the same classic, melt in your mouth flavor. Now you can get the original flavor and a spicy flavored that

Options Before the 4th of July

I hope you found me today start at my new time slot at 11 am. Many of you are probably marinating your ribs and butts getting ready for the 4th of July, so I want to give you some food choices until Tuesday! Also, keep in mind to check with these places this week as their hours may change because of the holiday. One thing my husband hates is when I like to taste his food, but when you try Dim Sum at Black Pearl Restaurant on Lakeshore, he shouldn’t get upset anymore. Dim Sum is small plates of food that you choose from a rolling cart that’s meant to be shared with family and friends. Dim Sum is also a Cantonese version of American breakfast that usually served with tea. The food is served f
