Fleming's is more than a steakhouse

If you’ve never been to Fleming's Steakhouse, Birmingham Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to check them out especially if you are on a budget. The upscale restaurant offers a 3 course meal including salad, a choice of petite filet which they are known for their mouthwatering steaks, double breast of chicken and a double thick pork chop followed by a modest slice of moist carrot cake with caramel sauce for only $40.

The Caesar salad made with a variety of fresh romaine lettuce leaves topped with a very savory salad creamy salad dressing. Nick topped mine with some fresh cracked pepper which added a pop of extra flavor. I’m grateful for this option so I can stick to my eating plan.

I selected the double breast of chicken for obvious reasons…#ILoveChicken, but because the manager Carmen said she really enjoys the chicken and it is a great option that the steakhouse can offer customers. It was very juicy and flavorful. It is topped with white wine sauce and mushrooms. This entree was paired with a bowl of truffle parsley mashed potatoes. This was a very filling meal even for me. I could eat that wine sauce with the potatoes alone.

Some of my table guests opted for the double thick pork rib chop which we all learned you could get your chop cooked to your liking. Nick recommended medium well as his favorite flavor profile. It is a generous portion as one of them had to get a to-go container.

Now my favorite part was the dessert. Who can resist carrot cake with pineapple? Carrots are a vegetable and pineapples are a fruit so I need both of those for my healthy lifestyle. The cake was so moist and came with some homemade whipped topping that was just right. The dark rum caramel drizzle was not over powering and was a great combination to end the meal.

Fleming's is not only a great restaurant for couples with its romantic ambiance but also for families who want a great meal in a nice atmosphere. If you are thinking about having a special night at a fine dining establishment, they will get the table prepared with chocolates or flowers for the occasion. They do allow walk-ins but reservations are preferred especially for larger parties.
