Flashing Sushi, Chicken Fingers & Cajun Seafood

If you are a beginner sushi eater like myself, you may think that California rolls are gourmet, but if you want to expand your sushi palate, you need to stop in a new spot in Hoover called Ooka Japanese and Chinese. They specialize in hibachi, Chinese & Japanese meals.

Unlike most habachi restaurants the meal is cooked before you on the table. Ooka does all of their tricks in the back, but the food is magical. In fact, when it comes to sushi, their chef is top notch. They have the most beautiful decorated plate that lights up when you get your meal. Another item that is my top fav is the fried tempura bananas drizzled in chocolate. When you visit Ooka, mention Comedienne Joy for 10% off your meal. Also be sure to get your punch card for a FREE meal on your 10th visit. They are located on Hwy 31 & Valleydale Rd.

Everyone knows #ILoveChicken and when it comes to chicken tenders, Famous Fred's in Hoover has been frying them up for over 20 years. One customer told me he lost weight with the frilled tenders, but my response was I'll be fat a little while longer! They serve breakfast and lunch only. You can get them to cater your next event. Famous Fred's is located in Hoover by Party City & Burlington.

Finally, my 2nd favorite meat is seafood primarily because I grew up in Mobile eating fresh gulf seafood. Cajun Seafood House in Vestavia has some of the freshest seafood that is cooked to order. Besides some of their lunch specials that are under $10, you must try their array of gumbos & lobster bisque plus the fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat. Honey hush, they are everything.

When you visit, either of these restaurants, please tag me on social media with your pictures & let me know which is your favorite!
